About MJB Miniature Donkeys

Marilyn became a breeder of miniature donkeys in 1992 and truly loves raising such wonderful animals. Her interest in miniature donkeys grew several years after seeing the donkeys at the Denver National Western Stock Show. It started as a hobby with two bred jennets and soon multiplied and became a business.

Being part of the family’s equine program, Marilyn was always in the barn working with horses and decided it was time for some animals of her own. She chose miniature donkeys because they are small, easy to handle and so loveable. The miniature donkey is kind and a perfect fit for her!

The Burlage’s own a small herd of select Jennets and four outstanding Jacks with some of the finest pedigrees. Their bloodlines come from exceptional herd sires including Dodge City Miniatures Jack of Spades, Magnum, Cobra, Fire Man and Red Lightning. Their program provides a variety of colors ranging from dark spots, blacks and reds. They breed for show quality, breeding animals and endearing personalities. Many of their donkeys have been sold through out the USA, Canada and overseas.

MJB Miniature Donkey’s mission is to continue to create miniature donkeys with great conformation, wonderful dispositions and robust pedigrees.

They hosted the Colorado Rocky Mountain Select Sale in the years of 2007 thru 2011 with donkeys from all over the US and Canada and buyers coming from as far as Europe and Australia.

MJB Miniature Donkey’s presented a Live Nativity for the local community in Colorado during the Christmas season of 2014. Monetary and food donations for the event were then given to the Tri-Lakes Cares organization to help those in need from the area.
